Leader Ayman al-Zawahiri urged Muslims around the world to wage war on the ‘religious enemy of Islam’

The leader of al-Qaeda has used anniversary of 9/11 to call for fresh terror attacks against the United States.

Ayman al-Zawahiri called on Muslims around the world to wage war against the US, who he portrayed a religious enemy of Islam.

The terror leader used the Trump administration’s controversial transferral of its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as evidence that the US is the enemy.

Al-Zawahiri’s call to arms came in a 30-minute video released on the 17th anniversary of the September 11 attacks , which left nearly 3,000 people dead.

A transcript of the clip was released by Washington-based Site group, which monitors media material by militants across the world.

In the footage, al-Zawahiri says: “America (is) the number one enemy of Muslims … despite its professed secularism.”
