NEW DELHI: Italian luxury sports car maker, Lamborghini is eyeing tier-II cities to grow in India, a top executive told ETAuto.
Sharad Agarwal – Head Lamborghini India said, “We aim to grow by 35 percent on the current year base in 2019. Out which one-fourth sales would come from non-metro cities.”
With the launch of its first SUV Urus, the sports carmaker aims to double the sales in 2019 from 2017. This year (2018) the carmaker is anticipating to sell 45 cars with an intention to double its market share in super luxury segment which have brands like Rolls Royce, Porsche and Ferrari. Currently, the market size of the Italian carmaker is about 250 units.
The company claims that it is getting buyers tier-II cities like Ludhiana, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Madurai, Kochi and Calicut.
As per the company, the profile of the customer is also undergoing a lot of changes.
“Earlier, our core customers were from affluent families and second generation or third generation businessmen. But now first generation entrepreneurs are also looking to buy these cars,” Agarwal added.

To further cater to the increasing demand, the sports car maker is making significant investments in its people and channel to give a better brand experience.
“Our focus is to invest in facilities and people. Because we are growing very fast in the country. We are upgrading our showrooms, workshops, and people. Apart from this our major investment goes to expand the market. We are trying to reach people from tier 1 and tier 2 cities to give them first-hand experience of the brand Lamborghini” said Agarwal.
The company has an international program Lamborghini Esperinza where it identifies right customer profile and takes them to track events. It recently took a group of customers to Zhuhai, Hong Kong for one day experience to drive Lamborghini on track with expert drivers.
Apart from this, the company has various other private and personalised programs to generate the first level of interest.
