A body has been found in the search for a mum who went missing in Essex.
Tina Cantello, 49, did not come home from her job going door-to-door debt collecting in Basildon yesterday.
Police revealed tonight they had launched a murder investigation after the body of a woman was found at a property in Derby Close, Langdon Hills, just over two miles from where she was last seen in Durham Road.
In a statement Essex Police said a 38-year-old man from Basildon has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
They are yet to confirm that it is the body of missing Tina – saying that formal identification has not taken place.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “At shortly before 6pm today, Saturday June 9, the body of a woman was found at a property in Derby Close, Langdon Hills.
“An investigation is underway and the woman’s death is being treated as suspicious.
“A 38-year-old man from Basildon has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody.
“Formal identification of the woman has not yet taken place.”
Tina was last seen driving a silver Mini which has not been located.
Earlier today, MirrorOnline reported how the boyfriend of her daughter Aimee, James Taylor, said her phone was found on the side of the road ‘as if it had been thrown from a car.’
He said: “She is a loan collector and so she goes to door to door.
“She went out yesterday about 5pm did her rounds and was due back at 7.30pm that night.
“We know she had three stops at work and she made contact with her first two jobs and then on the way to her third one we think she went missing.”
A cordon was erected at Durham Road at around 6pm today.
